The Maplewood Lacrosse Club purpose is to provide a fun, positive environment where Kindergarteners - 8th graders of all skill levels can discover the JOY of lacrosse.
We believe sports are much more than a game. Sports help us build character, create lasting friendships, and become a bigger part of a community.
Our volunteer coaches are passionate about teaching young athletes the age-appropriate skills and strategies needed to compete while emphasizing the values of lacrosse like teamwork and respect.
Our club is committed to respecting the game’s roots and fostering a long-lasting appreciation for the Creator's game. Good sportsmanship, playing and coaching with class, and growing our strong community of players, coaches, and supporters who exemplify these values are essential to the Maplewood Lacrosse Club culture.
Maplewood Lacrosse Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The club has been providing Maplewood and South Orange athletes the opportunity to learn lacrosse and compete against other town teams in the area since 1957. We are affiliated with the sport’s national governing body, USA Lacrosse and are members of the New Jersey Junior Lacrosse League which means each year our 8th grade team competes against other NJJLL teams for the 8th grade championship.
All of our volunteer coaches are certified by USA Lacrosse, increasingly at the highest level. This certification requires coaches to pass a background check and includes not only training in lacrosse and its rules but also abuse prevention, cardiac care, concussion protocol and cultural competency. *USA Lacrosse training does not include CPR and First AID certification.
